A Conversation With the Innkeeper

I recently had a chance to engage in a quick discussion with Debbie and Rich Howard, the Innkeepers at the High Pointe Inn.  Here are some of the Cape Cod Secrets they shared with me:

What’s the best thing about being an Innkeeper on Cape Cod?

Working with my best friend (my husband), living on Cape Cod, and meeting people from around the globe.

What is your favorite Cape Cod restaurant?

Belfry Bistro for fine dining in a romantic atmosphere and Sesuit Harbor Cafe for great seafood with an endless view.

What is your favorite Cape Cod Beach?

I love Sandy Neck, there are 8 miles of beach to walk and explore.

Where would you send guests looking for something incredible to do on their Cape Cod vacation?

Definitely a Whale Watch trip via Hyannis Whale Watcher, it’s an adventure of a lifetime.

Do you have a recipe you would like to share with our readers?

Sure, this is our Signature Dish:

 

High Pointe Inn French Toast

French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp cream
  • 1/4 Tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 Tsp Captain Morgan spiced rum
  • 1 cup corn flakes, crushed
  • 4 slices “Texas Toast” or regular bread
  • Ground cinnamon

Instructions

Combine first four ingredients in a bowl and whisk until blended.

Dredge bread in egg mixture, then coat with crushed corn flakes.

Place on medium (350 – 360 degree) griddle, or skillet, which has been liberally buttered. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and cook for approx. 3 minutes. When first side is golden brown, turn, and cook for another 2 – 3 minutes.

Dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately with real maple syrup.
